Holstee Manifesto

I came across the 'Holstee Manifesto' a few weeks ago & is the creative drive behind brothers Mike & Dave and business partner Fabian who started out designing shirts & distributing via their website .

I love their passion and words which soon became something to re read much like the 'Desiderata'.

Motivation  direction on the creative path can come from many sources. I'm happy to have these on mine.

Sculpture at Scenic World 2012

Yesterday I visited Scenic World's inaugural sculpture prize & exhibition which is located at the base of the Scenic Railway in the Jamison Valley.

Scenic World's website describes the show...

...Artists from Katoomba to Belfast are now creating unique works that will be displayed within the Blue Mountains World Heritage Area for our inaugural exhibition. Transforming the iconic Scenic World site, are 26 established and emerging artists with one entrant to claim the first of the annual $20,000 Scenic World Acquisitive Award and Keith Rowe trophy.

Sculptures to be displayed in the Jurassic Valley, have been selected by prominent judges, Macquarie University Sculpture Park Curator, Leonard Janiszewski, and University of Western Sydney Collection Curator, Monica McMahon.

The 2012 winner of the sculpture exhibition is Greer Taylor for the work titled 'Distant Time'.

Kayo Yokoyama

Showing at Lost Bear Gallery, Leura currently is artist Kayo Yokoama with these exquisite glass works.

Kayo Yokoyama graduated from Sydney College of the Arts (MFA) in 2011 and is based in Blackheath, Blue Mountains.

Kayo emigrated to Australia in 1997 to pursue a dream to study art. A love of objects and working with the transparent medium of glass has enabled Kayo to express her concept of home. She says, “The landscape in an object is a metaphor, where the chair represents where I belong; homeland is a place I search for. Whilst I am sitting among trees, I am in my homeland.”
