A beautiful spring day to do a road trip to Bathurst. We went to drop off one of my artworks which is being added to the Bathurst Regional Art Gallery's permanent collection. Whilst there, we saw this years travelling Archibald Prize exhibition which included a section of the gallery dedicated to local schools who wanted to get involved with the theme of portraiture. There was one particular work by a student from Raglan Public School which really captured my attention! (see below). The humour in this piece made my day.
Above, is a detail from Paul Jackson's work titled 'Jo', about the artist Joanna Braithwaite who is known for her exploration of the interrelationships between animals and humans. The fish being pushed in the wheelchair also gave me a giggle. Something about the expression on the fishes face which I relate too!
