The Black Mountain

The Black Mountain

Vicky Brown & Darren Seltman

September 28, 2013

'The Black Mountain' is the title given to the most recent Blue Mountains Cultural Centre exposé exhibition. It is a collaborative work between Vicky Browne & Darren Seltmann engaging the viewer with a site specific installation which encompasses sound and encourages interactivity. Maxx hopped inside the slightly off-kilter geodesic cardboard constructed dome where sound was being produced via plants in the terrarium close by. Other sounds can be manipulated within the dome by turning dials on a synthesiser within the installation.

Vicky and Darren have worked together collaboratively for the past 2 years. Darren has a background in music and Vicky is a visual artist

“Browne and Seltman’s installations are not didactic in nature; rather they aim to create spaces where participants can explore, communicate and interact freely via the use of materials, architectural construction, electronic devices and sound. ”
